Calories Per Day For Women of All Ages and Sizes

Each person has different needs. Among others, it depends on weight, height, gender and physical activity of the person. Here is a list of the recommended number of calories that the average person in the age group should consume in a day.

Age 1-3
Toddlers need about 1,160 calories per day

Age 4-6
Children need about 1,500 calories per day

Age 7-10
Children need about 1,700 calories per day

Age 11-14
Teenagers 11-14 need about 1,800 calories per day

15-18
Teenagers 15-18 need about 2,100 calories per day

Adults
Female Adults need about 1,900 calories per day

On average, men needs 2,500 calories per day, 600 more compared with adult women. It's mainly because men have larger muscles. If a woman wants to lose weight, she can start by eating 200 less calories and exercise more. Conversely, if a woman wants to gain weight, she can do so by eating 200 more calories per day and increase the amount of exercise.

There are special cases when women need less or more calories per day. Sedentary women who get very little activity should eat about 1,600 calories per day. While and extremely active women can eat about 2,800 per day. Active women, pregnant, and breast-feeding women should eat around 2,200 a day. For other cases, you may adjust but do not go below 1,200 calories. 1,200 is the minimum number per day for the average person to fulfill necessary nutritional needs.

Most calorie counting women have actually gained an extra 2 pounds when reporting their results.
